At the Swedish Museum of Natural History, I’ve had the joy (and responsibility!) of running the Instagram and TikTok channels. That’s meant everything from dreaming up content ideas to teaming up with brilliant scientists, finding the perfect story angle, filming, and editing it all into something engaging and shareable. I’ve also led inspiration sessions with our experts, kept an eye on trends, and done my fair share of social media sleuthing to see what’s happening out in the wild (pun intended). It’s been a mix of creativity, project management, and pure curiosity. Plus the chance to meet and work with an amazing variety of fascinating people.

TikToks are crafted to make every second count. The hook is designed to capture the target audience immediately, sparking curiosity and encouraging interaction from the very first moment.

Rhythm and variation are built into each video through graphics, animations and sound effects. The animations do more than decorate, they help convey and clarify the information, making it easier to understand and more engaging. Almost no moment goes by without something new happening, keeping the pace lively and dynamic. All videos are subtitled, ensuring accessibility and reinforcing the information by allowing viewers to both read and listen simultaneously.

Information is compressed to its most essential and interesting elements. The videos provide quick facts that aim to spark curiosity rather than deep dives, offering viewers meaningful takeaways in a short time. Each video concludes with a question, designed to encourage engagement and prompt viewers to comment and interact with the content.
